Last year, we launched our grocery offer on the platform and since then it has developed into an area of significant focus for our wider business. While our expansion in this space is still relatively new, we’ve seen rapid growth in this space with partnerships with leading global brands.
As a leading marketplace for food delivery we believe expanding further into grocery is a natural evolution for us to provide our consumers with even more options. With operations spanning across 20 countries, serving tens of millions of customers, we know consumers are constantly looking for more choice and convenience - this is a trend that is here to stay and one that we’re here to cater for.
From our pan-European partnership with Getir, Dia in Spain, 7-eleven in Canada, Spar in the Netherlands as well as Sainsbury’s and Asda in the UK, our grocery offer is only going from strength to strength. We’re delighted to be able to also deploy our own store model with Skip Lane Express in Canada which has been successfully rolled out nationwide, and Lieferando Express, which is being piloted in Berlin.
Altogether, we now support more than 30,000 grocery and convenience stores on the platform across the world. Consumers can order from a fast-growing range of options ready to be delivered quickly and conveniently, demonstrating the value we bring in this space with on-demand delivery. So whether you’re in need of last minute groceries, ingredients for dinner, or drinks and snacks for a gathering, we’ve got it covered through our wide-ranging shopping options. Some of the most popular items across our markets include fresh fruit and veg, sandwiches and bakery items.
Moving forward, we believe it is important to continually innovate, such as using our tech to enhance the experience for both consumers and partners and expanding our food and non-food offerings. On one hand, grocery dominates the retail sector globally. On the other hand, customers more than ever, are looking for convenience, and our aim is to bring these two trends together. For our partners, we do this by opening the door to a whole new consumer base and route to market. For our consumers, we bring them even more choice and flexibility when ordering online. Overall, with our large consumer base, retail understanding and unparalleled delivery network, Just Eat Takeaway.com is well positioned to be a large player in this space.
