The research, commissioned by Just Eat and conducted by Cebr, also found that the business supports over 100,000 jobs in its restaurant and grocery partners, supply chain, and the wider economy.
The platform is one of the world’s leading global online food delivery marketplace. In the UK and Ireland, it is home to more than 88,000 partners looking to reach more customers, and connect them with the restaurants and retailers they love - whether that’s a breakfast coffee, lunchtime sushi or late night grocery dash.
The report considers the direct economic impact the business has made in the UK, including additional economic activity generated by supply chain or employees. For every £1 contributed by Just Eat to the UK economy, a further £5.85 is supported across the economy. It comes as the UK market continues to drive momentum for the wider business, with Just Eat now serving over 97 per cent of UK postcodes.

Just Eat has been an incredible partner for Munchies. We signed up to the platform not long after opening in 2018 as we recognised it was an app that consumers trust, with a pool of loyal customers. Almost seven years later, Just Eat customers make up around 35 per cent of our business and, as we look at our business through the lens of delivery, I’m proud to say we now have three branches across the North West, with more in the pipeline this year.Shafkat Khan, owner of Sheffield-headquartered burger restaurant Munchies
Just Eat has been working with award-winning Indian takeaway Chilli Tuk Tuk, based in London, since it opened in 2015 and offered extra support during and after the pandemic.
We really do feel that our relationship with Just Eat is a valued partnership. We’ve found that with some companies you just feel like one of thousands, however over the years we’ve built a strong relationship which means that Just Eat are very personally responsive and open to helping with any challenges we face as a business.Deepak, owner of Chili Tuk Tuk
The economic impact report also reveals that Just Eat is a significant employer nationwide. Whilst just over half (52 per cent) of employees in the business were located in London, nearly a third (28 per cent) were based in Sunderland, whilst roughly one in 10 were located in Bristol and elsewhere in the UK. Just Eat opened its state-of-the-art customer service centre at Rainton House in June 2021, a move which has created over 600 jobs and boosted local businesses.
Initially starting out in the UK in 2006, Just Eat works with over 88,0000 partners nationwide, from local takeaways, to bigger restaurant brands including Franca Manca, Greggs, Joe and the Juice, Honi Poke and McDonalds. In 2022, Just Eat announced its expansion into grocery and retail when it partnered with Asda, the platform’s first tie up with a major UK grocer. The company continues to introduce new UK retail sites to the app, with over 8,000 sites available on the platform.
